Learning Objective:  An exercise to construct and reconstruct a resume that highlights and articulates your skills, work and volunteer history in a manner that is appealing to employers in New Jersey for possible part-time, summer or full-time employment (graduating seniors).

Students are to be aware that this project is a LIVE representation of your application for employment and should be taken seriously.  Your initial resume will be a very rough expression and you will be responsible for updating/revising it during every class period.

The keys to building an eye-catching resume is to utilize appropriate action words and listing your skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Prezi..etc) from all the applications we have utilized in our class time. Please reference the links below for key words and tips on resume building 

This project is worth 20% of your final grade in this class. I will assess the progress you make from developing your first resume to the final version.  I will also assess how well you use this site for job searches, and “MySkillsMyFuture” resource link. Please follow these instructions:   

Under the “Careers and College” tab at top click on “Careers”

Then click on “One Stop Career Centers NJ Dept of Labor and Workforce Development”

Click on the left column: “Job Seekers”

Click on ‘List My Resume”

On the right side “Create an Account”

Build your Resume!!   A Language Translator in the Upper Right Hand corner to translate pages is also available.
